A 23-year-old American woman has been arrested after she tried to steal 65 Stanley brand thermos cups. The bottles together had a value of almost 2,000 euros. Stanley’s cups are a big hit on TikTok.

The American woman took the bottles from a store in California on Monday and refused to pay for them. She ignored the staff asking her to pay and loaded the bottles into her car. The police eventually stopped the woman’s car on a highway entrance. The police found 65 thermos cups in her car.

Stanley’s cups have become very popular on social media in recent months. Influencers find the Stanley Quencher the ideal cup to take your water with you. They declared their love for the product under the hashtag #Stanleycup, which has more than seven billion views on social medium TikTok. Since then, the cup has become a gadget with which young women in particular want to distinguish themselves.

The Stanley Quencher has often led to remarkable situations. TikTokkers in the United States have posted footage of them spending a night in a parking lot to ensure they could buy a special Starbucks version of the cup. There is also a video of a man jumping over the counter of a Starbucks branch in an attempt to steal a pink version of the cup.

‘Don’t commit a crime to quench your thirst’

The Stanley brand has been around for 110 years and their cups have the image of being unbreakable. For years, factory workers and construction workers were the target group. This way they could keep their coffee warm all day long. This has changed in recent years and there are cups in different trendy colors and shapes.

The police in California have also noticed the hype and warn fans to stay within the boundaries of the law in their enthusiasm. “Although Stanley Quenchers are all the rage, we advise you to refrain from crimes to quench your thirst,” police wrote in a message about the woman’s theft.
