American surpasses PewDiePie as king of YouTube – Reaches 111.9 million subscribers

For a long time, Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie was considered the king of YouTube and had the most subscribers on the popular platform as a single person. But now a competitor from the United States has overthrown him from the throne.

Who is the new king of YouTube? As of November 14, Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, is the YouTuber with the most subscribers. He thus overtook Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg aka PewDiePie.

MrBeast started his career as a YouTuber with Minecraft videos in 2012. In the meantime though, the 24-year-old is best known for crazy campaigns and challenges. In April 2022, for example, MrBeast gave away chocolate over the internet and completely underestimated how much money it would cost him.

In November 2021, MrBeast also caused a stir when he recreated the Netflix series Squid Game and awarded $456,000 in prize money to the winner. His version of Squid Game also set a record of 42.6 million views in 24 hours for a non-trailer or music video, which he lost to Will Smith’s slap at the Academy Awards in March 2022.

Since MrBeast’s growth hasn’t slowed, the 24-year-old’s numbers have continued to grow. Meanwhile, the YouTuber has broken up according to the website livecounts.io the 111.9 million subscribers. The site shares data publicly on well-known social media platforms and claims to have the relevant data from YouTube.

With nearly 111.8 million subscribers, the former king of YouTube doesn’t have to hide. The Swede can still look forward to the milestone of being the first person with 100 million subscribers in the distant future.
