Raniere (60) is the founder of the so-called self-help organization NXIVM (Nexium). Within that organization, a secret sorority had also existed since 2015, where Raniere pulled the strings according to former members. He dominated the women as a cult leader. Among them was a 15-year-old.
Last year, the 60-year-old Raniere was found guilty of, among other things, trafficking in women, using women as sex slaves, starving them and branding them with his initials. The unusually high sentence of 120 years in prison was handed down after horrific statements by his victims.
Raniere managed to attract several famous women, such as actress Allison Mack and the wealthy Clare Bronfman. Last month, she was sentenced to more than six years in prison for her involvement. According to Raniere and his lawyers, he is completely innocent.
