An expert panel in the CDC recommends the corona vaccine of Pfizer and Biontech to American children between the ages of five and eleven.

It is expected that the CDC will follow the recommendation and that the vaccination of children can begin this week.
The discussions in the expert panel, which consists of independent researchers, dealt with, among other things, rare cases of myocarditis – that is, inflammation of the heart muscle – which has primarily affected young men who have been vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine. The panel concluded that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
Last week, the Norwegian Food and Drug Administration approved the vaccine for the same age group, but the CDC must also give the green light, because the vaccine doses are distributed via government services.
Prior to the recommendation of the independent research panel, the Biden administration has obtained enough doses to vaccinate the 28 million children in the age group. The FDA recently stated that the vaccine is very effective against covid-19, after Pfizer itself announced that it has an effectiveness of around 91 percent in younger children.
The vaccine dose given to children is significantly less than that given to adults.
