American Nova-C Lander Successfully Lands on Lunar Surface, NASA Confirms

The American Nova-C lander from Intuitive Machines landed on the lunar surface. The broadcast was conducted on the website of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The lunar landing occurred at 02.23 Moscow time.

After landing, the team of specialists needed about 10-15 minutes to establish contact with the device.

“We are on the surface and transmitting a signal. Welcome to the Moon,” said the head of Intuitive Machines during the broadcast. Steve Altemus.

The Nova-C lander, about the size of a telephone booth and weighing about 1.9 tons, was delivered by the US company SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.

This is NASA’s second attempt to send a lander to the Moon since the beginning of the year. On January 8, the American company United Launch Alliance launched a Vulcan launch vehicle from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral (Florida), which was supposed to deliver cargo to the Moon, including the Peregrine landing module. A few hours after separation from the media, a malfunction occurred. Experts determined that there was a malfunction in the engine and a fuel leak, which left no chance of making a soft landing on the Moon. After 10 days, the device burned out in the dense layers of the Earth’s atmosphere.
