American music publisher “Prima Classic” has released pianist Andrei Osokin’s new album “Two Worlds”, dedicated to two outstanding composers – George Gershwin and Claude Debussy. It reveals both composers as creators of a new style of piano music and the beginning of the 20th century as a time of search and experimentation in music.
The recording is directed and produced by Edgardo Vertanesyan, who over the years has collaborated with many world-renowned classical and non-academic musicians and bands, including Luciano Pavarotti, Anders Miolin, Taylor Swift, The Who, Rianna, Jay-Z, Kanje Vests. and many others. I was very excited when the founders of Prima Classic – our great opera singer Marina Rebecca and the wonderful sound director Edgardo Vertanesyan – approached me to record a solo album. This idea, despite the time constraints of the pandemic, was implemented with great inspiration and energy, and I am extremely glad that it is appreciated by listeners all over the world, ”says Andrejs Osokins.
Even before the release of the album, the recordings of the compositions included in it were noticed and appreciated. The three singles released so far on this album – George Gershwin’s Rhapsody Blues and Claude Debussy’s “Moonlight” and “Puppet Bouquet” from the “Children’s Corner” suite – are among the highlights of the classical music recommended by the music streaming site “Spotify”. records from around the world. Several compositions have also received recognition from Apple Music and Amazon Music music experts. “We have known Andrejs for a long time and are following his career – he is a wonderful pianist, whose talent we wanted to show our listeners with the help of a studio recording,” says Edgardo Vertanesjans. “We spent countless hours recording the album so that Andrejs could experiment with different interpretations of the compositions, later choosing the versions that addressed him the most. Nowadays, this opportunity is a luxury, because most artists record a lot of music in a relatively short time. We are very happy that we chose to record the album this way, because the result is great. ”
The recording was made in the 1st studio of Latvian Radio. The layout of all 24 tracks on the album is purposefully and conceptually thought out, alternating between the two composers’ search for musical means of expression, thus revealing the mood of Europe and the United States in the early 20th century as vividly as possible in 24 views of the new era. The album is available in digital format on all major music streaming sites, and is also released in CD format.
