The United States reopens its borders to vaccinated foreigners from November 8. Will this boost attendance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

This is obviously a good sign. This first shows that we have entered a new phase of the pandemic thanks to vaccination. Tourists already represent more than half of our visitors, but they are Americans. It will still take two, or even three years to regain the level of attendance that we had before the Covid. Individual travelers will return faster than groups, and some audiences faster than others. The main novelty of the last five to ten years in New York has been tourism from Asia, and especially from China , which represented 14% of our international attendance.
