Donald Trump, who also won with 306 electors in 2016, disputes this year’s unofficial election results. He claims that the Democratic camp has committed fraud and that he is the real winner of the election. There are lawsuits on the claims in several states.
In terms of total votes, Biden is more than 5 million votes ahead of Trump. According to CNN, Biden has just under 78 million votes (50.8 percent), against nearly 72.7 million for Trump (47.4 percent). But that does not matter, because the US works with a system of electors.
