American left at night with Covid-19 symptoms and may have caused an outbreak in Bavaria – Observer

Despite manifesting symptoms of the infection, a 26-year-old American citizen will have gone out at night to party in the resort Alpine of Garmisch. That decision may have been the cause of an outbreak of coronavirus in the city.

Local authorities are still defining what type of sanctions they can apply to women. Local health officials believe, however, that the outbreak came after the American woman went through several pubs where you may have infected several people.

Local authorities indicate that the woman was already showing symptoms when walking around the bars and awaiting the results of the Covid-19 test, after returning from vacation in Greece. Violating confinement measures in Bavaria could cost a fine of 2,000 euros.

It is not clear, however, whether the woman was infected on her trip to Greece or in Garmisch, says Stephan Scharf, a spokesman for the German city, quoted in The Local. “Sometimes people don’t wait for the test results,” he continues. To date, 24 people who were at the hotel where the American citizen works have tested positive for the coronavirus.

All contacts with the American have not yet been identified, so German health officials are asking that anyone who has been to bars in the area should go to the health department’s phone line and be tested. In total, 37 new infections were registered until Saturday, with an incidence of 54 cases over seven days, surpassing the mark of 50 new infections per 100 thousand inhabitants in seven days.

Health officials predict an increase in new cases of Covid-19 in the district and on Friday announced the imposition of restrictive measures in the city of 26,000, adding that nightlife should not exist because it was, by the way, what that caused the contagion. Restaurants must close at 10 am and only a maximum of five people are allowed to meet in public, something that also applies to these establishments. For private events, the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 50 people in closed rooms or up to 100 people outside.
