American Judge Rules Trump’s Hush Money Case Can Proceed Before November Elections

Feb 15, 2024 at 4:13 PM Update: 2 hours ago

An American judge ruled on Thursday that a criminal case against former President Donald Trump over the payment of hush money to a porn star can start on March 25. The case therefore takes place before the presidential elections in November.

Trump had asked the judge in Manhattan to dismiss the 34 charges in the case against him. He would be too busy with other things and they would overlap. But the judge did not agree with that. Within ten minutes he had already decided that the case would be heard from March 25.

The former president is suspected of forging documents to conceal a hush money payment. He is said to have paid an amount of $130,000 to porn actress Stormy Daniels through his then lawyer Michael Cohen.

The hush money was intended to prevent her story about a sexual affair with Trump from becoming public in the run-up to the 2016 presidential elections. Trump denies the affair and the accusations.
