American Hockey League: The Rocket is defeated 5-2 in Springfield – The voice of the south

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Shut out on five power plays, the Laval Rocket lost 5-2 to the Thunderbirds in Springfield on Saturday.

Martin Frk scored a hat trick for the T-Birds, who are undefeated in their last three games.

Hugh McGing and Austin Osmanski each had a goal and an assist.

Joel Hofer blocked 32 shots, being beaten only by John Parker-Jones and Joel Teasdale.

Philippe Desrosiers made 22 saves.

Osmanki broke the 1-1 deadlock early in the third period.

Frk followed up 32 seconds later, then McGing hit the target 1:50 after that second goal from Frk.

The 29-year-old Czech completed his hat-trick in an empty net.

The Rocket will be back in action Wednesday in Rochester.
