American girl ‘Side Eyeing’ Chloe (10) sells meme

Seven years ago, while on a family trip, Chloe and her sisters were surprised by their mother Katie with a visit to Disneyland. The mother filmed Chloe’s two older sisters going crazy and even crying with joy. The look of Chloe, who came into the picture afterwards, was much less enthusiastic. ‘Side Eyeing Chloe’ was born.

Non-fungible token

Since then, the meme has been mostly used on Twitter, as a response to something uncomfortable or questionable.

The video is now being sold as an NFT (non-fungible token), which has been very popular lately. In addition, a digital image or a film is given an unfalsifiable crypto signature, as it were. Anyone can watch it anywhere, but there is really only one original.

Chloe, who is now an internet celebrity, and her family are paid in a certain crypto currency. The bidding starts at a value of approximately $75,000, currently around $64,000.

‘Strange and overwhelming’

The original video was viewed about 20 million times when mom Katie posted it online in 2013. The image of her daughter was soon seen everywhere. “It was very strange and overwhelming,” says Katie against the BBC. “Friends and family sent me the memes. To this day it still happens when they see it somewhere.”

According to Chloe’s mother, it was a logical step to sell the meme. “A fan can now own it,” she says. “Even Chloe said she thought it was ‘really cool’.” If all goes well, Chloe and her family will be very profitable. Earlier this year, an NFT of the popular meme ‘Disaster Girl’ sold for half a million.
