American game company apologizes after being deemed insulting to the Koran

Call of Duty: Vanguard officially launches on November 5, 2021.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The American video game publishing company, Activision Inc, apologized after being judged to have disrespected Muslims. In the Call of Duty (COD) Vanguard series, on one of the campaign maps in zombie mode, there are several sheets of paper with the words Al-Qur’an covered in blood and scattered on the floor.

Muslim gamer Chadley Kemp criticized Activision for this. Fans gim Call of Duty also called Activision careless, rude, disrespectful of the Qur’an, and insensitive to Islam.

“Gentlemen, I saw the pages of the Koran on the ground on the zombie map. I saw that it should be deleted immediately. Maybe if it was true,” wrote the user Twitter, @BKTO0R, quoted Ginx on Friday (12/11).

In the attached image, torn pages of the Koran can be seen on the floor. Following the reaction from the Muslim community, Twitter Call of Duty Middle East later released a statement apologizing for the insensitive content that was incorrectly included in COD Vanguard. They also said they had removed the content from the video game.

“Call of Duty is made for everyone. There was content that was insensitive to the Muslim community that was mistakenly included last week and has since been removed from the game. It should never have appeared as it did in gim. We are very sorry. We are taking immediate steps internally to address the situation to prevent such incidents in the future.” Twitter Call of Duty Middle East uses Arabic.

Call of Duty: Vanguard officially launched on November 5, which was met with great excitement from fans. The game has been praised for the traditional feel that veterans of the Call of Duty franchise know and love.
