On Saturday the time has finally come for the first game of the AFC “Grizzlies” club from Stockerau, founded in 2020, to take place in the Alte Au sports center. This is the first of three qualifying games to be able to take part in the regular championship of the AFBÖ (local football association) next year.
“We are motivated to the point of our toes,” head coach Andreas Kreuter is already looking forward to this premiere. Even chairman Christoph Kaiser can hardly wait: “It will be a highlight.” We have the most important answers to the most burning questions:
What are the hard facts?
Admission starts at 2 p.m. and the kick-off at the Alte Au stadium takes place at 4.15 p.m. The entrance fee for adults is 8 euros, reduced tickets cost 6 euros and children up to the age of twelve get in for free. The 3G rules naturally apply to everyone! All information and updates are available at www.grizzlies.at.
What else is on offer?
In addition to great American football, there is a pre-game show with DJs, a break show by the FAC Gitti-City and afterwards live music from the band “Walter”. There are also burgers, hot dogs, Mac’n’Cheese and cool drinks around the clock. “And you can stock up on all sorts of fan articles from us,” said Kaiser, who is hoping for a lot of fans.
Who is the opponent?
The Styrian Panthers from Styria are guests, for whom it will also be the very first game in the club’s history. The know-how is there, as the coaching and board team consists of former players from the series champion Vienna Vikings.
What is the mood?
According to head coach Kreuter, “everyone is highly motivated”. With one exception, he can fall back on his entire 50-man squad, with whom he has worked hard over the past few weeks, including two training weekends.
