OWL-Sport. “We want to celebrate the championship with our fans,” Volker Krusche announces for next Saturday. Then his Minden Wolves will play their last game of the 2024 season in the “Bessel-Kessel”, which will end with promotion to the Regionalliga regardless of the outcome of the game. The Wesseling Blackvenom team will be the guests at 2 p.m.

For the hosts, it is a special game not only because of the celebrations after the game, where the team invites the football family to free beer and bratwurst, but also as the start of the month of the “Fight Against Breast Cancer”. Sports director Krusche is looking forward to the Pink Ribbon game, which is being held for the second time after 2023 in cooperation with BKK Melitta hmr.

The pink ribbon is now an unmistakable symbol of breast cancer awareness around the world. For this reason, the Minden Wolves are playing in pink jerseys and socks in this game. “We want to help sensitize not only women, but also men, to this insidious disease,” said the Wolf Pack’s sports director. Spectators can find out more on the grounds of the Besselgymnasium.

In sporting terms, the dice have already been cast for the “Wolves”. At least as far as winning the title and jumping into the highest NRW league, the Regionalliga, are concerned. Both have been certain for weeks. But head coach Phil Gamble still believes his team has not reached its goal. The reason: After 2022, he wants to have the “perfect season” in 2024, i.e. a season with a clean slate. Currently, there are eleven wins from eleven games. The final twelfth victory is now to follow against last year’s association league champions and Oberliga promoted team from Wesseling. “Then we will have fulfilled our task this year and can return to the Weserstadion in 2025 with confidence.”

But Gamble has a special wish: “With summer temperatures, I hope there will be lots of fans who will come to our last game of the season and want to celebrate with us afterwards.”
