The Cowboys solved their own task with ease and defeated the Washington Football Team with 56:14 on Sunday (December 26th, 2021 / local time). For the first time since 2018, they secured the title in the NFC East Division. The cowboys got help from the Las Vegas Raiders, who beat the Denver Broncos at home with 17:13.
Last year’s finalist Kansas is confirmed as the winner of the AFC West for the sixth time in a row. The decisive factor was the 36:10 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, although, among other things, top performer Travis Kelce was not available in the team due to a corona outbreak.
The home side were already leading 23-0 at half-time. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes made his mark on the game by throwing three touchdown passes.
Amon-Ra St. Brown again with a touchdown
Amon-Ra St. Brown continues to attract attention. The German-American passport recipient recorded his third touchdown in the 16:20 defeat of the Detroit Lions on Sunday at the Atlanta Falcons. Even so, the playoffs will take place without the Lions.
Debut for Eberle at Houston Texans
Dominik Eberle of the Houston Texans made a successful debut. In the 41:29 win against the Los Angeles Chargers, the 25-year-old kicker turned two of his three attempts on Sunday. Eberle was only signed three days ago after missing the main squad with the Las Vegas Raiders and the Carolina Panthers. In the duel against the Chargers, the 25-year-old replaced Ka’imi Fairbairn. Despite the success, the Texans have no chance of making it to the finals.
Tampa Bay back on the road to success
After the 9-0 loss to the New Orleans Saints the previous week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers returned to star quarterback Tom Brady. With the 32: 6 at the Panthers, the champions moved into the playoffs. In the battle for first place in the AFC East, the New England Patriots and Jakob Johnson from Stuttgart were defeated by the Buffalo Bills 21:33.
Rodgers breaks Packers touchdown record
Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers overtook legendary Brett Favre on Saturday and now holds the Green Bay Packers’ touchdown record in the National Football League. In the 24:22 win over the Cleveland Browns on Christmas Day, Rodgers posted three touchdown passes and now comes to a total of 445 – three more than Favre, whose substitute Rodgers was at the beginning of his career.
After the record touchdown, a video congratulation from Favre to his successor at Lambeau Field was played: “I have a request. Get us another Super Bowl. Congratulations.”
On a good way
The Packers with the German-American Equanimeous St. Brown have already been determined as division winners and are well on their way to starting the playoffs as the top-ranked team. That would guarantee them a bye and home right until the conference finals. In the past two seasons, the Packers had lost what nearly ended Rodgers’ time with the Packers in the summer. The 38-year-old celebrated his only Super Bowl victory in 2010.
Colts win at the Cardinals
In a second game, the Arizona Cardinals missed again to qualify early for the playoffs. Quarterback Kyler Murray’s team lost to the Indianapolis Colts at 16:22. While the Cardinals, ailing at the end of the regular season, suffered their third defeat in a row, the Colts are back in the middle of the playoff race after six wins in the past seven games.
