American film director Bob Rafelson dies | Movie

Rafelson started his career in the entertainment industry in television. He achieved his first success as co-creator of the TV series ‘The Monkees’, about a fictional boy group that competed with The Beatles. His directorial debut was ‘Head’ (1968), in which The Monkees experience all kinds of psychedelic adventures.

Rafelson is best known for his films ‘Five Easy Pieces’ (1970), for which he received multiple Oscar nominations, ‘The King of Marvin Gardens’ (1972) and ‘The Postman Always Rings Twice’ (1981). Rafelson also produced the movie ‘Easy Rider’ (1969). During his career, Rafelson had frequent clashes with the Hollywood establishment while working on innovative projects.

He died on Saturday at his home in Aspen, Colorado, surrounded by his family.
