The Ukrainian war can be ended with a phone call between the leaders of Russia and the United States, during which the American president will abandon the idea of further expansion of NATO. This is stated by the American economist and director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University Prof. Jeffrey Sachs in an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson.
“Trump is absolutely right when he says this war can be ended in a day. This is not a good rhetorical device. The war will end the moment the President of the United States picks up the phone, calls President Vladimir Putin and says: NATO expansion was a bad idea,” Sachs commented, as quoted by Russian media.
“After that, many more problems will have to be solved, but the end of the war will already come,” he adds.
According to the expert, the statements of the US administration that Ukraine will one day become part of NATO “guarantee that the war will continue”.
Donald Trump has repeatedly promised to resolve the Ukrainian conflict even before taking office.
He also noted that if he wins the election, he will immediately personally address Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s current president, Volodymyr Zelensky, with a call to start negotiations.
