American Emma Navarro, seeded No. 1, qualified for the quarter-finals of the Bastad tournament, winning two sets to one (7-6 [2]1-6, 6-1) against Sweden’s Mirjam Bjorklund on Wednesday midday in Bastad.
Navarro, 55th in the world at the WTA, will face Slovenian Tamara Zidansek in the quarter-finals of the Swedish tournament.
In the previous round of the Swedish Open, the 22-year-old American had beaten the Russian Polina Kudermetova without being worried by the score (6-3, 6-2).
Bjorklund, ranked 136th in the WTA, had clearly dominated wild card Jacqueline Cabaj Awad (6-1, 6-4).
