American critics vote “Tàr” the best film
Los Angeles/New York The New York Film Critics Association (NYFCC) named a musical drama starring director Todd Field’s Cate Blanchett as the best film of the year. Does this improve the chances of an Oscar as well?
The drama “Tàr” received further awards in the USA and thus increased its chances in the current trophy competition. The New York film critics association NYFCC (New York Film Critics Circle) has voted director Todd Field’s musical drama as the best film of the year.
Additionally, lead actress Cate Blanchett was voted Best Actress. In “Tör” you embody the fictional chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic, whose life is spiraling out of control. Irish actor Colin Farrell took home the Best Actor award for After Yang and The Banshees of Inisherin. The winners were announced on Friday (local time).
The trophies from the NYFCC Critics Association, founded in 1935, are among the first of several film award ceremonies to be presented in the coming months. The winners are often among the nominees for the Oscars, which take place in March. Last year, for example, the critics association named “Drive My Car” the best film. The Japanese drama Ryusuke Hamaguchi was subsequently nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and eventually won the Best International Feature Film award.
