The National Society of Film Critics met this Saturday in New York and Los Angeles to vote on their annual film awards.
The critics were allowed to designate three films for different categories. Their first pick gets three points, second pick two, and third pick one point. The film that collects the most points in each category will be declared the winner.
Last year’s prices were dominated by Drive my car which won the awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor. Penélope Cruz was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Pedro Almodovar Parallel Mothers.
Kate and Colin
This year’s top awards went to LIBRARY in The Banshees of Inisherin. The award for best actress went to Cate Blanchett, while Todd Field’s classical music saga also won the award for best film. Colin Farrell was up for Best Actor The Banshees of Inisherin.
Oscars
Charlotte Wells won Best Director for After sun. Insiders expect this vote to affect Oscar performance. The Banshees of Inisherin will be in Dutch cinemas on January 26 and for LIBRARY it will be March 2nd
