American city of Jackson to be the first to offer bitcoin salary » Crypto Insiders

The adoption of Bitcoin (BTC) sometimes with big and sometimes with small steps. Yesterday, another small step was taken that further substantiates the legitimacy of bitcoin as a serious currency. The city of Jackson in the American state of Tennessee wants to offer bitcoin as a payment method!

Bitcoin next to the US dollar

You see it more and more often in the crypto newsBitcoin, which will actually be placed on the same pedestal as the US dollar. Where inflation is skyrocketing and the dollar is depreciating, people are increasingly looking for a way to protect their hard-earned money.

Jackson Mayor Scott Conger has been working on a proposal to offer bitcoin as an option to employees on the city’s payroll for some time now. And that proposal has now become a reality, according to a article van Jackson News.

Jackson becomes the first US city to switch to bitcoins

Yesterday is a so-called request for proposal (RFP) submitted. This gives third parties the opportunity to make an offer to operate as a service provider for the exchange of dollars into bitcoins. So the Bitcoin plan is seriously taking shape:

“The 22nd is when the respondents should respond to the RFP. So once the 22nd comes, we’ll open the bids, have the commission, and they’ll review it. They will probably issue an advice to the council in February.”

Conger emphasizes that it is not an obligation to have salary paid in bitcoins. This is how Conger explains:

“It’s an alternative. Think of it as if you were investing in the stock market. What do you want to do? You want to diversify your investments. And this is just another way to diversify the portfolio of how we generate revenue – potentially across the city.”

We also see bitcoin being more widely accepted at such a level in Europe. In the Swiss Zug, for example, you can pay tax with bitcoin and ethereum (ETH).
