The pilot shortage has prompted American Airlines to end services starting in September at some airports in Iowa, New York and Ohio, the company announced.
The services, according to a company statement to NBC News on Wednesday, they will cease on September 7 at the Dubuque Regional Airport in Iowa; Long Island MacArthur Airport and Ithaca Tompkins International Airport, which are in New York; and the Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport in Ohio.
The “regional pilot shortage affecting the airline industry” was cited in a statement by American Airlines as the reason behind the “difficult decision” to cut ties with the four airports.
