American Airlines plans to increase its presence in key destinations in Mexico

In an interview with Expansion portal from Mexico, José María Giraldo, regional director of American Airlines in Mexico, Central America, Colombia and Ecuador stated that he is interested in opening new routes and frequencies to Mexico due to the high demand of passengers.

The manager stressed that the operational capacity offered to Mexico at this time is approaching the one that existed before the pandemic broke out. Especially in beach destinations like Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos.

As of December 17, American Airlines began flying to Cancun from Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis, Kansas City and St. Louis. Additionally, the airline also began flying to La Paz and Loreto from Phoenix and Dallas.

American Airlines increases its presence in Latin America and the Caribbean.

According to Giraldo, “passengers are looking for destinations that offer the characteristics that Mexico has with its beaches, and that are relatively close to their country of origin.” He also stated: “The projection we have at this time is that we are going to be 30 to 35% below last year.”

It should be remembered that both American Airlines and other North American airlines have not stopped flying to Mexico at any time since the pandemic began.
