American Airlines is expanding its transatlantic offering for the summer 2025 season by resuming service to Edinburgh in the UK for the first time since 2019 and adding new routes to Athens in Greece, Madrid in Spain, Milan, and Rome in Italy.
“We look forward to offering our customers more options to visit their favorite destinations in Europe next summer. Resuming service to Edinburgh and adding new routes to other popular destinations across the continent will offer customers convenient access from American’s industry-leading domestic network to all that Europe has to offer,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning.
New Routes
From Philadelphia, customers will have the option to connect from 80 destinations to 17 transatlantic services including the resumption of the route to Edinburgh in the UK.
In Italy, the airline is launching two new Philadelphia-Milan and Miami-Rome. American will operate from six U.S. airports to the Italian capital, more than any other U.S. airline.
A new, unprecedented service will be added between Charlotte and Athens, operating up to four daily services to Greece by the summer of 2025, consolidating itself as the U.S. airline with the largest number of flights and available seats to Greece.
In Spain, American will have a non-stop connection between Chicago and Madrid, the hub of its transatlantic partner Iberia. It is also the second Spanish route that the airline offers from O’Hare International Airport and maintains its leadership as the U.S. airline that operates from most destinations to the Spanish capital. This route will also offer connections to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
