American actor Henry Silva died

His son Scott reported his father’s death to Variety magazine. Silva died in a hospital in California, the AP reported.

Silva was born in New York, where he also studied acting. His breakthrough role was as a drug dealer in the 1957 film A Hatful of Rain. He has appeared in several films alongside Frank Sinatra, such as the Cold War thriller The Manchurian Candidate. He also starred in the original 1960 Danny’s Eleven, but also appeared in the subsequent remake of Danny’s Sidekicks with George Clooney in 2001.

In the 1960s he made a series of spaghetti westerns in Italy and later appeared in numerous other European films, such as The French Adventurer with Jean-Paul Belmond in 1983.
