America.. Unexpectedly low unemployment claims

Unemployment claims declined in the US over the past week, contrary to analysts’ expectations.

According to data from the US Department of Labor released today, Thursday, February 16, jobless claims in the United States fell to 194,000 during the week ending on February 11, compared to 195,000 applications in the previous week.

According to CNBC, analysts had expected jobless claims to reach 200,000 levels.

While unemployment benefits applications over the past four weeks (the most accurate criterion for measuring the labor market) recorded 189.5 thousand applications, which constitutes an increase of about 500 applications compared to the week ending on the fourth of February.
