América TV Takes Action and Removes Controversial Program ‘Emprendedor Ponte las Pilas’

América TV launches a statement and definitively withdraws the program ‘Emprendedor Ponte las Pilas’.

On the night of August 1, América Televisión launched a forceful official statement in which it expressed itself about the participation of minors parading in lingerie for the program ‘Emprendedor Ponte Las Pilas’. “In relation to the events that occurred in the program ‘Emprendedor Ponte las Pilas’ during the broadcast on Saturday in which several girls were exhibited in their underwear, América Televisión complies with reporting,” their statement begins.

Given this, the Pachacamac channel makes public knowledge that it maintains a coherent editorial and ethical line in all the content that is presented on its grid, regardless of external productions. “Although it is a program produced by the external company PROTV productions, which has already apologized for what happened, all the programs that are broadcast by América Televisión must be aligned with our values and principles,” he adds.

It is for this reason that América Televisión decided to withdraw the program ‘Emprendedor Ponte las Pilas’ from the air, despite the apologies offered by the producer. “Last Saturday’s program violated the fundamental rights of several minors, which is unacceptable, therefore, we have made the decision to permanently remove it from the air,” he said.

In addition, América TV has also decided to take additional measures to prevent similar situations from happening again in the future. “Additionally, we are going to strengthen our internal compliance policies and joint work with external producers so that this type of event does not happen again. Lima, August 1, 2023″, ends the statement.

Let us remember that the program ‘Emprendedor Ponte Las Pilas’ broadcast by América Televisión and presented by the hosts Tula Rodríguez, Angie Arizaga, Brenda Carvalho and Carloncho, has generated a series of criticisms on social networks due to a controversial segment in which minors of age were exposed modeling underwear to promote a Peruvian lingerie brand.

This has generated entities such as the MIMP and the MTC to speak out in respect, expressing their rejection, since it is considered a sample of hypersexualization and exploitation of minors.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications was present and revealed that it had sent a statement to the National Radio and Television Society. Similarly, the Ministry of Women sent a letter to the channel to reject this practice that involves the hypersexualization of girls on the television channel.

Given this, Minister Paola Lazarte rejected the images of minors, since they “affect the dignity” of children “and violate the principles that govern the provision of broadcasting services.”

In the same way, he urged the channel “to adopt actions that as owners of the radio broadcasting service are their responsibility, in order to avoid situations that could cause damage to the fundamental rights of children and adolescents (NNA),” he said.

For its part, the entity of the Ministry for Women has also sent a letter addressed to the América Televisión channel, expressing its firm rejection of the practice of including girls in situations of ‘hypersexualization’ in a television program. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), this behavior can lead to the normalization of sexual abuse, child marriage and sexual exploitation. With this action, the entity seeks to emphasize the importance of protecting the integrity and rights of girls, urging them to avoid promoting content that may be detrimental to their development and well-being.

“We request that, in application of the Principle of the Best Interest of the Child, the content of the programs be carefully reviewed in order to avoid the exposure of children and adolescents in situations that affect their moral integrity and normal comprehensive development,” reads the document sent by Henry Aguilera, head of the Ministry’s General Directorate for Children and Adolescents, to the television manager Pablo Massi.
