‘Memo”s contract ends at the end of 2022. The goalkeeper is currently 36 years old and, despite his age, the club is interested in keeping him in their ranks for at least one more year. América decided to rush the talks for his new contract because, in case of not reaching an agreement by June, Ochoa is free to negotiate with any other club to leave for free.
Despite the criticism he has received from some sectors of the fans, Ochoa has maintained an outstanding performance with America. The player was trained in the basic forces of the Coapa club, undertook his European adventure and returned to the club that formed him a few years ago, now with more experience, which earned him the badge of captain in this new stage.

Ochoa returned to América in 2019, from Belgium’s Standard Liège. The Águila team paid 1 million euros for the return of its player. ‘Memo’ signed for three years and that period is about to end. It should be noted that, upon his return, Guillermo became one of the highest paid players in the entire Liga MX.
The salary issue is one of those that could complicate the negotiation of his new contract. In order for Ochoa to maintain the same salary that he receives, he will have to reach a special agreement with the club.
For now, the future of Guillermo Ochoa with America begins to take shape. The team has three months to reach an agreement with its iconic goalkeeper.
