AN IMMORAL HISTORY COURSE
Revisiting the History of the Founding Fathers of the United States with animation, blood and name-calling every minute is the strange and senseless cocktail of this America, produced by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, the duo behind Spider-Man : New Generation and The Great Lego Adventure. Here, the film targets only adults and takes advantage of its freedom of tone to give it to their heart’s content, between absolute cynicism, multiple references and parody elements.
As the main character of this absurd and decadent historical film, we find George Washington, the first president of America who refuses to bow to the British monarchy. Presented as a cliché hero of Hollywood cinema, with his rounded torso and his big arms armed with chainsaws, he goes on a crusade alongside other emblematic figures to form a team of vigilantes that resembles, with a few details, the Avengers.

In the tradition of Team America, a satirical action comedy filmed with puppets concocted by the writers of South Park, this animated film knows no bounds in humor – rather crude – and bloodshed. Realized by Matt Thompson – producer on the animated series Archer -, the feature film is written by Dave Callaham, screenwriter of many blockbusters, Wonder Woman 1984 last Mortal Kombat. He also signs the script for the next Marvel movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
If it does not really allow you to deepen your personal knowledge of American civilization, America plays a lot on its main asset: its prestigious vocal cast. George Washington is voiced by Channing Tatum, Judy Greer plays his wife, Martha, Simon Pegg plays King James, Andy Samberg plays the antagonist Benedict Arnold, Will Forte lends his voice to Abraham Lincoln, while Olivia Munn plays Thomas Edison. An explosive cast like the film.
