America leaves planes and helicopters damaged, Taliban angry and betrayed

TRIBUNNEWS.COM – fighter Taliban They felt upset and betrayed when they learned that the US had disabled helicopters and military planes prior to their departure from Kabul.

U.S. forces demilitarized 73 planes prior to their departure this week, according to U.S. evacuation mission commander Gen Frank McKenzie, according to the Daily Mail.

The US has left up to 48 aircraft in the hands of the terrorist group, although it is not known how many are operational.

Many aircraft were built in the 1980s and require constant service and replacement parts to ensure they are airworthy, let alone combat-ready.

However, Taliban apparently expected the Americans to leave the helicopters and planes intact and operational, according to an Al Jazeera reporter who visited the airport after the recall.

The reporter said, “When I asked her, ‘Why do you think America is leaving everything intact for you?'”

“They replied, ‘Because we believe it is a national benefit and we are now the government and it could be very useful to us’.”

He added: “They are disappointed, they are angry, they feel betrayed because all of these devices are irreparably damaged.”
