America beats Vancouver in its debut in the women’s Concachampions

Mexico City. The América women’s team had a successful debut in the first edition of the Concacaf Women’s Champions Cup by beating the Vancouver Whitecaps of Canada 7-0 this Wednesday in a group stage match held at the Ciudad de los Deportes stadium.

In the match corresponding to group B, which was delayed a little more than an hour due to the electrical storm that fell in the vicinity of the capital building, the goals for the Eagles were scored by Sarah Luebbert, at minute 20, Nicolette Hernández (25), Kiana Palacios (26), Scarlett Camberos (31), Irene Guerrero (50), Aylin Aviléz (73) and Miah Zuazua (85).

The team led by Spaniard Ángel Villacampa made the most of their home advantage from the start of the match, as from the first minutes they began to threaten the Canadian team’s goal with attacks by Luebbert, Hernández and Guerrero, but none of them managed to cross the goal line.

The Azulcremas’ momentum was finally rewarded in the 20th minute, when Luebbert headed a cross from the left wing into the centre to put the ball into the opposing goal and put the score at 1-0.

Just a few minutes later, the azulcremas’ goal cascade began. At 25, Hernández took advantage of a back pass to send the ball back into the net and make it 2-0, while Palacios made it 3-0 at 26.

After this third goal, América completely dominated the game and buried the hopes of its opponent, who was not able to react to try to close the gap on the scoreboard.

Given the vulnerability of the opposing defense, the fourth goal for the Coapa team was not long in coming. At 31, Camberos finished easily from the center of the area and made it 4-0 to get a big advantage before going to the break.

In the second half, the Azulcremas did not slow down and continued to pressure the Canadian squad in search of increasing their goal-scoring percentage.

In this way, the Eagles had no mercy on their rival and Guerrero scored the fifth goal at 50, while Aviléz and Zuazua sealed the 7-0 win at minutes 73 and 85, respectively.
