América beats and breaks Rayadas undefeated in the Women’s League

Monterrey took more than 45 minutes to get into the game. When he finally woke up, América was already scoring and practically had the victory in the bag. The 4-2 result marked the most disconcerting and poor display by the Rayadas this campaign. The boos from their fans, plus the shocked faces of each player on the field, reflected the difference that exists with respect to the Eagles.

American Sarah Luebbert scored the first goal after 24 seconds. Of the four defenders who tried to stop her, none could bother her left foot. Luebbert had time to face it, watch the exit of goalkeeper Pamela Tajonar and finish from one side without breaking a sweat. From that early blow, the offensive arsenal of the American team made the first half a complete party.

In less than five minutes, forward Kiana Palacios ran behind the lined defense and scored from the right before the departure of Tajonar, who saw the hope of her teammates collapse. There was nothing that could prevent him from losing his undefeated record. To make matters worse for the local fans, Irene Guerrero increased the lead from the penalty spot (10) under a gloomy atmosphere at the BBVA stadium, where the enthusiasm at the start led to a loud roar.

Before going to halftime, Palacios sealed his double with the complicity of the Monterrey goalkeeper, who could not keep the ball after a shot by Luebbert and left the door open on the rebound (34). If it weren’t for America entering a state of relaxation, the score could have been more scandalous in the face of the complement. But Rayadas organized some of his ideas and, with this, improved the way of approaching the meeting.

The final stretch was just a formality. The only thing the Eagles failed in was discipline, after the expulsion of Nancy Antonio. That allowed the locals to score two goals, through Nicole Pérez (44) and Christina Burkenroad (45+2), who adjusted the scores.

At the Nemesio Díez stadium, Toluca defeated León 2-0 with goals from Brazilian Brenda Da Graca (51) and Cinthya Peraza (90). This victory propelled the Diablas to 12th place in the League with 14 points, four away from the league zone. The Esmeraldas, for their part, were one place behind with 11 points and seven losses in 12 games.
