There were no surprises and the Mexican clubs were placed in the semifinals of the Concacaf Cup. At the Azteca Stadium, America beat Portland 3-1, advancing 4-2 on aggregate. The goals for the American victory were from Federico Viñas on two occasions and Leo Suárez.
“I really liked the game, the opponent gave a good display, I’m happy with what my team did and that’s very good,” said coach Santiago Solari.
In Monterrey, the Rayados beat Columbus 3-0 to advance to 5-2 on aggregate. The goals were the work of Maximiliano Meza with a double and Miguel Layún.
Regios coach Javier Aguirre was happy and says they are ready for the Liguilla.
“Well, happy, yes happy, the players have surrendered, they have done a good job, we had a bump that complicated our direct pass in the League, we are strong.” In the semifinals, Monterrey will face Cruz Azul and América will face Philadelphia. (By Martín Navarro Vásquez)
