América advances to the final of the Liga Mx Femenil after beating Chivas 2-1

Mexico City. América advanced to its third consecutive final of the Liga Mx Femenil after coming back from behind and beating Chivas 2-1 in the second leg of the semifinals of the Apertura 2023 tournament, played this Sunday at the Azteca stadium. After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, the Eagles finished with an aggregate score of 4-3.

The current champions, who took advantage of the numerical superiority they had during most of the second half after the expulsion of the red and white Carolina Jaramillo, achieved victory thanks to the goals of Kiana Palacios, at minute 77, and Andrea Pereira (80). The visitors had taken the lead on the scoreboard with a goal from Casandra Montero (68).

The match started with great intensity on the part of the Águilas. Just in the 12th minute, the azulcrema scorer Katty Martínez feinted with a header that went over the goal guarded by Blanca Félix.

The visitors did not take long to respond and also had the opportunity to open the scoring in the 19th minute, but Damaris Godínez was unable to push the ball that passed in front of the rival goal with goalkeeper Itzel González already defeated.

From that moment on, América began to dominate possession of the ball, but Félix reacted in a timely manner in each approach.

The bad news for Chivas came in the second half, when in the 62nd minute one of their best players, Carolina Jaramillo, was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.

However, the Guadalajara squad managed to open the scoring at 68, after Montero hit a corner kick to make it 1-0.

Those led by Ángel Villacampa also deployed their offensive power to try to even the scores, which they achieved in the 77th through Palacios, who after a series of rebounds in the area scored the ball to make it 1-1.

Motivated by the tie, the locals managed to turn the score around at 80, after Pereira hit the ball with a volley to seal the 2-1 victory.

The Americanistas will meet their rival in the final of the Apertura 2023 tournament this Monday after the second leg duel of the semifinals between Tigres and Rayadas.
