Amélie Mauresmová, Director of Roland Garros, Receives Restraining Order in Divorce Proceedings

The boss of the Paris Grand Slam tournament Roland Garros is experiencing a turbulent period in private. However, thanks to the court decision, it already has solid prospects for the end of the suffering, at least on the operational level.

Former world number one Amélie Mauresmová is in divorce proceedings with her wife Marie-Bénédicte Hurelová. Since she filed for annulment last year, according to her own words, she has been experiencing hell: “Humiliation, threats and insults also through online messages at any time of the day or night.” In September, Hurelova was detained and interrogated in Biarritz after reporting harassment.

The 2006 Australian Open and Wimbledon winner Mauresm has now obtained a restraining order at a court in Bayonne, including her new partner’s residence. The closed trial was on January 23, the verdict was published on Tuesday.

Sixteen years after Mauresmová, the elder Hurelová also received a fine in the symbolic amount of one euro and a conditional sentence of imprisonment for four months. The prosecution asked for ten months.

The marriage lasted from June 2021, but the couple lived together in Anglet on the southwestern edge of France, near the border with Spain, starting in April 2014. Mauresma gave birth to a son, Aaron, in August 2015, who was joined by a daughter, Ayla, in April 2017.

Co-holder of the 2003 Federation Cup of the women’s national teams, silver medalist in singles from the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and winner of the 2005 WTA year-end championship, she ended her career in December 2009.

In the meantime, Mauresmová coached, for example, Andy Murray, Mickael Llodro, Lucas Pouille, Viktoria Azarenkova or Marion Bartoli. She was also the non-playing captain of the French women in the aforementioned Fed Cup – now the Billie Jean King Cup. In 2015, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, USA.

A native of Saint-Germain-en-Laye west of Paris, Mauresmová became the director of Roland Garros in December 2021, so she has completed two years in the position. This year, the Olympic tennis competitions will also take place in the area of ​​the same name.
