Amélie Matton has worked at Ecosteryl for fifteen years and has held the position of CEO, general director, for three years. After studying management engineering with a specialty in environment, his career path led him to the world of industry. “I was immediately passionate about this project and I said to myself, I’m from Brussels, but I’m going to work in Borinage and help this company develop.“, she says today.
At the origins of Ecosteryl, there is the AMB company, created in 1947 and specializing in boilermaking and mechanics for the mining industry, in particular. At the turn of the 2000s, the company turned to environmental solutions and developed technology for the treatment of medical waste. Since then, AMB has become Ecosteryl.
This very “industrial” company was mainly a man’s world when Amélie Matton joined it. “For about ten years, there were two women in the company, the secretary and me.“, she explains. Since then, there has been an evolution. “In terms of employees, there were two of us [ndlr, femmes]. Today we are at 40%“, explains the manager of Ecosteryl. On the other hand, for the workers, it is different. “In terms of production, we are still looking for welders and milling machines. We once had an intern, but these are still too rare profiles“, explains Amélie Matton.
