AMD’s New Generation Graphics Cards: What to Expect at Gamescom 2023 Event

So far, AMD has introduced only four graphics cards of the new generation, with three of them falling into the high-end segment and one into the low-end. We haven’t seen the gold mid-range models yet, but according to the latest speculation, it should arrive soon, at the end of August at the Gamescom 2023 event. The introduction of new models in this quarter was also confirmed by the red team itself.

The RDNA 3 catalog, which currently includes desktop cards Radeon RX 7900 XTX, RX 7900 XT, RX 7600 and now also RX 7900 GRE, is soon to be enriched with new mid/upper mid-range models that will receive the Navi 32 graphics chip. Speech is specifically about graphics Radeon RX 7800 a RX 7700which are to receive 16GB and 12GB of memory.

During this year’s Q2 earnings call, AMD’s CEO outlined plans for the future. Among them was that the company intends to expand the offer of RDNA 3 graphics cards by new models for enthusiastsHow informed server Wccftech.

There are two interesting things about this statement. First, Lisa Su speaks in the plural, and therefore not only one new card will arrive, but at least two. Second, enthusiast graphics were mentioned, but it’s not entirely clear what to imagine under that. Wccftech notes that the current TOP models of the Radeon RX 7900 XT/XTX are described by the company as “ultra-enthusiast”, and in general, the more expensive pieces are considered to be enthusiast products.

Theoretically, the company could do so add something to the $500-$700 price segment (maybe a Radeon 7900 with 70 compute units?) which is almost empty so far. But unless it’s a new 7900 series, it probably means that Radeon RX 7800 and RX 7700 prices mentioned in this leak they are too low. Another possibility is that Lisa Su is just exaggerating.

So we’re curious to see what red team products will eventually be unveiled during Gamescom.
