In order to improve players’ gaming experience, AMD recently released the “Anti-Lag+” function. Unexpectedly, after players used it, it was used as a cheat in several e-sports games. Several of the games have been blocked, resulting in the player’s account being blocked.
Anti-Lag+ is a new feature included in the AMD driver “Radeon Adrenalin Edition” and can be turned on and off through the driver’s software. To compare with NVIDIA, Anti-Lag+ is equivalent to the Reflex of the GeForce RTX series. This type of technology can effectively reduce latency by synchronizing frames.
But the bad thing is that Anti-Lag+ will automatically modify the game files, because Anti-Lag+ is adjusted on the driver side, not built into the game, so when it is turned on, the driver will write to the dll file. This This method is the same as that of most cheaters who use cheats.
Valve has confirmed on CS2’s official Twitter that this is the culprit for many players’ accounts being banned. These players all have one thing in common, which is that they use AMD Radeon RX 7000 series of GPUs and turn on Anti-Lag+. Other AMD models are currently fine, because only the RX 7000 supports Anti-Lag+.
AMD’s latest driver has made their “Anti-Lag/+” feature available for CS2, which is implemented by detouring engine dll functions.
If you are an AMD customer and play CS2, DO NOT ENABLE ANTI-LAG/+; any tampering with CS code will result in a VAC ban.
Once AMD ships an update we…

Among the current major competitive games, those using the same anti-cheating technology (VAC) include “CS2”, “APEX Legends”, “Strike 2”, “Fortress Heroes”, “Modern Warfare II”, ” PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds”. Among them, “CS2” and “APEX Legends” have already started to ban players, while “Decisive Moment” will cause the game to crash.
As for why nothing happened to NVIDIA’s Reflex? Because NVIDIA chose to cooperate directly with game manufacturers to integrate this technology into games. But which games will be supported depends on whether the two parties have reached an agreement. For example, “CS2” does not have support.
