“AMD vs Nvidia Power Consumption: Is the RTX 4070 More Economical than the 7700 XT?”

If the specs are correct, it’s a shame that AMD doesn’t seem to be able to keep up with Nvidia in terms of power consumption on lower-end cards. According to Nvidia the RTX 4070 has a TGP of 200 watts. The 7700 XT (intended to compete with a lower end card from Nvidia) is rumored to have a TBP of 225 watts. Of course, there are some subtle differences between TGP and TBP (esp whether cooling and lighting is included in the consumption), but only fans and lighting does not explain a 25 watt difference, I think.

If the specs are correct, 7700 XT vs RTX 4070 (a higher end card, according to the specs), the 4070 is a lot more economical. This is important for those building small systems where the GPU should not be a hothead.

Well, we won’t know for sure until the independent benchmarks come in. Until then, sit quietly on your hands.
