AMD Unveils FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0: Performance Boost and Open Source Technology

A AMD unveiled FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0 (FSR 3.0), a significant evolution of its technology aimed at improving gaming performance.

The announcement, made during Gamescom, highlights the potential of the new version to offer up to twice the performance and FPS in several current and future titles.

What’s new in FSR 3.0

FSR 3.0 promises considerable improvements over the previous version. In the published tests, the performance of “Forspoken” increased up to four times on an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU, with ultra quality and 4K resolution.

In addition, AMD Fluid Motion Frames technology, which is part of FSR 3.0, proved to be able to compete with NVIDIA’s DLSS 3, doubling the game’s frame rate per second.

Open technology for everyone

One of the great differentials of FSR 3.0 is that it is open source. That means it will be available not only for AMD’s RX 7000 and 6000 series GPUs, but also for competing graphics cards including the Radeon RX 5700 and GeForce RTX 20 lines.

AMD has confirmed that in addition to “Forspoken” and “Immortals of Aveum”, other popular titles like “Cyberpunk 2077”, “Frostpunk 2” and “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” will also support FSR 3.0.

Additionally, the company introduced AMD HYPR-RX, which combines several technologies to optimize the frame rate and reduce latency in games, making it ideal for competitions.

Expected launch

AMD has announced that FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 and its associated features will be available in September 2023.

With this, game enthusiasts and professionals in the field are eagerly waiting to test all the capabilities promised by this new technology.
