Processors were introduced a month ago AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000, which have pretty decent overclocking potential, but it’s not as simple as it might seem at first glance. Even if it’s possible and the motherboard offers overclocking capabilities, doing so will void your CPU warranty. Motherboards inform about this in the BIOS, and this is confirmed by several sources, including the well-known overclocker Shatterbencher.
Activating the overclocking functions permanently interferes with the processor, so it is an easily detectable matter. But this is nothing new, similarly, PBO is not covered by warranty even with regular AMD Ryzen processors. In such a case, the processor works outside the standard specifications, which is the reason for not recognizing a potential complaint. It would be good to mention that overclocking for Ryzen Threadripper 7000 is only available for custom builds (not OEM). Motherboard manufacturers usually explicitly point out the problem with the warranty before possible overclocking.
