While 230 units of the Ryzen 9 7900X were sold in the first week after launch, the more expensive Ryzen 9 7900X3D managed to reach 360 units, which is half as many. That’s certainly not a bad number, and it was the third best-selling processor of the week. Interestingly, at the time the 7900X3D was introduced, only 100 units of the 7900X model were sold, so the 3D version did very well here. However, we must be careful.
This is one vendor’s data and no final far-reaching conclusions can be drawn from it. If we look at e.g. Amazon, the 7900X is doing better there on the 21st position, but the 7900X3D with the 26th place is not much worse off. In this case, however, it does not belong to the Top 3 by chance. At least not yet, and the question is how exactly Amazon’s statistics are calculated. However, other new models with 3D V-Cache did not make their way into the statistics. When it comes to, for example, the 16-core 7950X3D, it doesn’t look like a lack of interest, but a considerable unavailability of the new processor.
Anyway, of the processors with 3D V-Cache, the older Ryzen 7 5800X3D is doing very well. The latter leads in the statistics from MindFactory with 490 units (beating the second 5700X with 400 units and the already mentioned third 7900X3D with 360 units), and it also holds a very high position on Amazon, where it competes for 2nd and 3rd place with the Ryzen 7 5800X .
