Not satisfied with what NVIDIA is showing? If you wait another month, the selection will be bigger again. It might be worth waiting to see what AMD will show.
So far, AMD has released three cards from the new series, the RX 7900 XT, XTX and RX 7600. Two trampled models and one trampled wren. But don’t despair, more cards are coming, and it is from them that we have the first indications of how they will perform. The RX 7700 and RX 7800 cards (Navi 32 chip) were tested in 3DMark Time Spy and the scores are as follows – the RX 7700 scored 15465 points and the RX 7800 scored 18197 points. If we compare it with cards on the market, the RX 7700 clearly surpasses the average score of the RTX 4060 Ti, which is 12839 points, but on a powerful machine the RTX can climb even higher. The RX 7800 outperforms the RTX 4070 average, but again, it depends on the test setup.
Leaked numbers should of course be taken with a grain of salt. We don’t know if these are pre-production samples, we don’t know the version and status of the drivers (as you know, AMD matures quite well), and we don’t even know the system on which the cards were tested. Maybe the final products will be more powerful (and drivers better tuned). Both cards are expected later in August and we’ll surely be smarter then.
