AMD Noise Suppression really broke the curtain when they showed off a video of this feature Live before AMD itself released it. The Red Team has now officially unveiled drivers from Radeon Software that support the said technology and serve as a direct competitor to NVIDIA’s RTX Voice, which runs on both GeForce RTX and GTX products, while Noise Suppression works with the Radeon RX 5000 series and up. .

AMD Noise Reduction reduces ambient background noise for greater clarity and better focus, whether you’re focusing on an important meeting or staying engaged in a competitive game. Using a real-time deep learning algorithm to reduce background noise, this new feature works on both input and output devices on any AMD-powered system, removing unwanted background noise picked up on a microphone or someone else’s device.
To find AMD Noise Suppression, make sure you’re using the latest version of AMD software, click the Settings icon, and go to the Audio & Video tab. Under Sound Settings, you’ll see AMD Noise Reduction; All you have to do is click the slider and select the I/O device or both depending on which device you want to enable the feature. From there, open your games or communication apps like Microsoft Teams, Discord, or Slack, to name a few, and select the “AMD Streaming Audio Device” I/O to enjoy AMD noise reduction.

AMD’s noise cancellation technology aims to ensure that users communicate without interruption. This is achieved through intelligent voice optimization, driven by artificial intelligence algorithms or real-time deep learning. This technology allows noise to be modulated in both directions, both for the input source and the output. One of AMD’s main goals was to make its services widely available, and the company plans to have noise cancellation work in various applications and games.
AMD explains in the video that the technology is already available, so it looks like the feature will be available at launch. AMD will certainly provide detailed instructions on how to enable the noise cancellation technology, but it should include a few simple steps to set it up. I’m very excited to see AMD’s software portfolio expand with technologies similar to competitors.
In addition to noise blocking, the new software drivers deliver up to a 92% performance boost in OpenGL games like Minecraft. AMD didn’t mention any OpenGL titles other than Minecraft, but that’s probably the only case where the red team saw the biggest performance boost with the new drivers. If you’re playing older OpenGL games, you’ll probably see a nice performance boost, but not the strong 92% that AMD advertises for Minecraft.
Additionally, AMD has expanded and improved Radeon Super Resolution technology, which now works with Radeon RX 5000 and RX 6000 GPUs. The company has added to its Radeon Boost VRS support list, which now includes the latest titles such as VALORANT, Elden Ring and Resident Evil Village.
