AMD has twice emphasized the advantage of video memory and the value of its Radeon graphics cards over GeForce, saying they offer up to 16GB of memory at a starting price of just $500.
AMD CEO of Marketing Sansa Marinkovic says that AMD Radeon RX 7000 и RX 6000 offer more video memory at a better price than the competition. AMD says 16GB Radeon memory starts at $499, while NVIDIA’s 16GB cards start at $1,200.
Video card AMD Radeon RX 6800 The 16GB starts at $500 and offers double the storage and better performance, and retails for a lower average price of $50 compared to the RTX 3070. The card is also cheaper than the RTX 4070 12GB, which starts at 600 dollars. In comparison, the Radeon RX 6800 XT 16 GB can be found at prices ranging from $550 to $579, while RX 6950 XT 16 GB retails for around $650 or even less.
In the pre-top segment AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT costs about $50 more, and even less, but also offers 8 GB more video memory than the RTX 4070 Ti. The $999 RX 7900 XTX offers 24GB of VRAM, while NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 comes with 16GB of VRAM for $1,200, and the only 24GB NVIDIA cards of this generation are the flagship RTX 4090, which has a completely different price point in $1,600 and she’s on a whole other level, and AMD themselves know nothing beats it.
Like it or not, AMD is right in that they offer more video memory per segment at a much better price, be aware that these are not the cheapest 16 GB options. The laurels also go to the 16GB Intel Arc A770, which sells for around $350, with a $150 difference. The performance of the card is not comparable to the RX 6800, but that is why its price is lower. Adding more VRAM is a great idea considering recent PC ports have been extremely unoptimized and require additional VRAM to work properly without memory leak issues.
For example Star Wars: Jedi Survivor is a recent example that is experiencing a lot of problems on the computer. The AMD-sponsored game and everyone else, Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD itself, are having issues during launch. That is why gamers rate it negatively on Steam.
The developers apologized to PC players, but it continues again, although the work on the bugs is carried out with two hands and takes a long time to fix. Perhaps things will change soon and developers will actually put some time and effort into making finished PC games, as gamers pay a lot of money for high-end components, but face various problems and performance losses.
