AMD Processors Hit 30 Percent Market Share in Steam Hardware Survey – Computer – News

The number of Steam users with AMD processors has grown to over 30 percent. This is evident from the latest figures published by Valve. In December 2019, AMD’s share was still less than 20 percent.

At the end of May, the percentage of AMD CPUs in Steam users’ computers stood at 30.13 percent, according to the Steam Hardware Survey. That is an increase of 0.65 percentage points compared to the previous month and thus the 30 percent barrier has been broken. The figures on the overview page going back to December 2019 when AMD’s share was only 19.5 percent.

AMD is not catching up when it comes to video cards. The percentage of Radeon GPUs stands at 16.2 percent and has been virtually unchanged for a long time. Nvidia has by far the largest market share here with more than 75.6 percent.

The most common GPU is still the GeForce GTX 1060, which is in 8.7 percent of the systems. The AMD RX 580 is the most commonly used Radeon GPU and is found in 2 percent of the systems. The most common RTX 30 card is the GeForce RTX 3070, in 1.4 percent of systems. Radeon RX 6000 cards are not listed. That indicates that they are in less than 0.15 percent of the systems.

Among VR goggles, the Oculus Quest 2 continues to make its way onto Steam. Of all VR users, 29.3 percent have that headset from Facebook. That is an increase of 1.5 percentage points compared to the previous month. The first Quest has a share of 5.3 percent and in total, with the Rift S, Oculus has a share of almost 54 percent.
