AMD Announces New Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Series Processors for Workstations

AMD has announced new processors for workstations, the “Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series” (Threadripper 7000 series) and the “Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 WX series” (Threadripper PRO 7000 WX series). By the end of 2023, the company will begin offering the service to users who build their own PCs, SI partners, and OEM partners.

The Threadripper PRO 7000 WX series features Zen 4 cores, enterprise-level security and management features required by AMD PRO technology, and amazing performance with up to 96 cores/192 threads.

It also features up to 384MB of L3 cache and 8 channels of DDR5 memory to support applications that require high memory capacity and bandwidth.

The Threadripper 7000 series also uses Zen 4 cores, supports up to 64 cores/128 threads, and is equipped with up to 48 PCIe 5.0 lanes. The DDR5 memory controller delivers twice the bandwidth of typical dual-channel desktop systems to handle even the most demanding workflows.

Lineup list

Along with this CPU announcement, motherboards for the AMD WRX90 chipset compatible with the Threadripper PRO 7000 WX series and the AMD TRX50 chipset compatible with the Threadripper 7000 series will also be provided. The supported memory, number of PCI lanes, and supported functions are as follows.

System integrators using Threadripper PRO 7000 WX series processors are scheduled to be available in late 2023. HEDT platforms powered by Threadripper 7000 series processors are also expected to be available from system integrators by the end of 2023.

Parts of the Threadripper PRO 7000 WX series and Threadripper 7000 series processors are scheduled to go on sale at PC parts specialty stores from November 21st (November 22nd, 11:00 AM Japan time).
