“AMD Addresses Issues with Ryzen 7000X3D Processors: Solutions and Recommendations”

AMD has responded to reports of issues with their Ryzen 7000X3D processors, which have allegedly caused some CPUs to burn the CPU socket on AM5 motherboards and damage the chips beyond repair. The company has issued a statement, in which they have identified the problem and released a new AGESA that will prevent the CPU from operating beyond its specification limits. They have also advised users to check their motherboard manufacturers’ websites and update their BIOS to ensure their system has the latest software for their processor. AMD has not specified if the issue is limited to its Ryzen 7000X3D processors or if it affects all Ryzen 7000 processors. To counteract the problem, AMD has limited SoC voltages to 1.3V and set a limit within the firmware that prevents the Ryzen 7000 CPUs from exceeding specification. Users can still apply EXPO memory profiles on compatible kits of DDR5 memory without affecting the changes made to the AGESA firmware. AMD is working with its motherboard partners to release the new AGESA firmware, which will be available to users in the next few days.
