Amber Heard understands the jury’s verdict in the lawsuit between her and her ex Johnny Depp. The actress has her first interview about the aftermath of the case.
“I don’t blame them,” Heard says in the talk, which airs Monday night (local time). “In fact, I can understand it. He is loved by the people and the public has the feeling that they know him. He is also a fantastic actor.”
The actress has less understanding for the many hate messages she received via social media during the process. She doesn’t take it personally, but doesn’t think it’s fair that most of the negative messages are directed at her and that Depp is actually being supported.
“I don’t care what people think about me or what they think about what happened in our private lives. The average person doesn’t know that at all. And that’s why I don’t take it personally,” says the Aquaman-actress.
“But even if you think I’m lying, you can’t possibly say that the many hate messages are justified and that the relationship is not skewed (with regard to the negative messages about her and the positive ones about Depp, ed.).”
‘Jury was not neutral in court’
Earlier, the actress’s lawyer said that it was actually impossible for the jury to sit unbiased in court. “They went home every night, but those people have families and those families are on social media. There’s no way they weren’t affected.”
Depp received incredible support on social media, while Heard was heavily lashed out. While the hashtag #IStandWithAmberHeard on TikTok has been viewed about 27.2 million times, #JusticeForJohnnyDepp has 20.3 billion views.
Depp filed a lawsuit against Heard, accusing her of defamation and defamation. The actor demanded 50 million dollars (47.8 million euros) from his ex and a rectification because of her statements. Heard claimed in a column in The Washington Post that Depp was abusive throughout their relationship, but according to Depp that is not true.
The jury passed its verdict about two weeks ago. The judge ruled that Depp will receive 10 million dollars from his ex and Heard 2 million dollars from the actor. For the time being, the actress will not appeal.
